FOLLOW THE ST. LAWRENCE UNTIL THE ROAD CAN GO NO FARTHER
September 2027
THE ROAD ENDS. THE NORTH SHORE CONTINUES.
An expedition through immense rivers, coastal wilderness, and the edge of the connected world.

A journey east along one of Quebec’s wildest and least-traveled coastlines.
Follow the St. Lawrence northeast through increasingly remote communities until the continuous road reaches its end.
Cross enormous northern rivers descending from the interior, each shaping the geography and communities gathered along the coast.
Explore a landscape of islands, monoliths, boreal forest, hidden coves, and cold Gulf waters unlike anywhere else in eastern Canada.
Travel through settlements connected by one road, by ferry, or by the sea, and experience how distance shapes everyday life along the North Shore.
Stand beneath one of the largest multiple-arch-and-buttress dams in the world and experience the astonishing scale of Quebec’s northern hydroelectric country.
Reach Kegaska, where Route 138 stops and the communities beyond remain disconnected from the highway network.
The farther east we travel, the wider the rivers become, the smaller the communities feel, and the more completely the landscape takes control of the experience. Reaching the end of Route 138 is one defining moment, but everything required to get there is what makes this an expedition.
The words “end of the road” make you want to keep going.
You are drawn to remote coastlines, massive infrastructure, isolated communities, and places connected to the rest of the world by only the thinnest line on the map. You want a journey where geography itself becomes part of the story.
Most travelers turn around long before the North Shore reveals itself.
This expedition continues beyond the familiar sections of the St. Lawrence and follows Route 138 into its most remote reaches. It combines coastal exploration, northern culture, extraordinary infrastructure, and the symbolic achievement of reaching the road’s final mile.
