The short answer is yes, but there are some things to consider. This is a long duration overland style trip across the country. Your kids should be old enough to understand, have experience with, and be comfortable with long days in the vehicle and camping. Every family is different but typically we find kids over the age of 6 do best with trips of this type. As for pets, your well behaved and leash trained dog is always welcome but will also need to be used to long days in the vehicle.
We will be traveling deep into the forests and will experience all manner of wildlife while here. While camping at night, precautions should be taken to avoid leaving any food or scent that could attract bears. We will go over this with participants well in advance but this includes not leaving food or garbage out/unsealed and even extra care with soaps and deodorants.
This time of year, the worst of the bugs are behind us. We will go over this as the trip gets close but extra bug gear like spray, repellant, nets, and appropriate skin covering clothing is still recommended just in case.
