The Gaspe Adventure

August 7-16th

Just above Maine & New Brunswick is eastern Quebecs Gaspe peninsula, home to some of the best overland style exploring on the east coast. This 1200 mile adventure will take you through the best of the best combining vast wilderness with ocean vistas in a single unforgettable journey.

The Gaspe Adventure Itinerary:

Meetup

Our crew will meet Friday morning in Fort Kent Maine and cross the border into New Brunswick to start our adventure. There is an optional place to camp the night before to break up your journey if you choose.

The Gaspe Peninsula

Dense forests, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, wildlife, and great camping await you as we spend the next week zigzagging across this overland paradise. There are endless possibilities to explore and we will experience a good sample of it all.

About the trip

This absolutely epic adventure meets in Maine and covers around 1200 miles around the Gaspe Peninsula and back again. There will be plenty of stops along the way and will be dispersed camping for the entire journey.

As with all of our trips, you and your vehicle for this trip must meet all the expedition level requirements in the vehicle rating guide. There will be plenty of opportunities for supplies along the way but you and any of your participants should be prepared for life on the road for the duration of the expedition.

The Gaspe Adventure is designed to be experienced with a small group of likeminded individuals to keep the adventure going smoothly. This trip will be limited to 5 vehicles and participant families.

DestinationXtreme will have this trip fully planned for you from beginning to end and make sure you are completely prepared beforehand. Extra expenses for this trip include but are not limited to:

  • Fuel to cover 1200 miles
  • Food - groceries and restaurants

FAQs

Is this a family/pet friendly trip?

The short answer is yes, but there are some things to consider. This is a long duration overland style trip and your kids should be old enough to understand, have experience with, and be comfortable with long days in the vehicle and camping. Every family is different but typically we find kids over the age of 6 do best with trips of this type. As for pets, your well behaved and leash trained dog is always welcome but will also need to be used to long days in the vehicle.

Are bears and other wildlife a concern?

We will be traveling deep into the forests and will experience all manner of wildlife while here. While camping at night, precautions should be taken to avoid leaving any food or scent that could attract bears. We will go over this with participants well in advance but this includes not leaving food or garbage out/unsealed and even extra care with soaps and deodorants.

What about the bugs?

This time of year, the worst of the bugs are behind us. We will go over this as the trip gets close but extra bug gear like spray, repellant, nets, and appropriate skin covering clothing is still recommended just in case.

Will be break up the days of driving?

Yes, although there is a large distance to cover, each day we will take breaks and there will be opportunities to be on your feet and some chances to explore too.

Where will we shower and go to the bathroom along the way?

Our camping with be dispersed, carry in, carry out style and you will need to bring your own bathroom facility.
