Maine is truly a massive state with uniquely different and challenging terrain from one side to the other. OTAM was born from the idea of strategically getting your overland rig from one corner to the other, avoiding pavement at all costs all while carefully rationing food, water, fuel, and the allotted time for the trip.
Just because one trail ends, doesn’t mean the journey does. OTAM is held once a year, usually in the spring with a small convoy of our members, hand selected and each with their own unique speciality for the trip ahead. Together, they overcome each obstacle in a race against time and supplies to reach the finish line together.
Groups will remain small, specialized, and vehicles will be carefully selected to ensure a safe and successful trip for everyone involved.
Keep scrolling for specialized vehicle details.
OTAM will be a highly videoed journey with a focus on strategic planning, execution, and the individual part that each team/vehicle plays. For example, the cook for the trip while not responsible for purchasing everyone’s food, may carry and prepare group meals for the trip with that freeing up space in the mechanic/recovery vehicle for more tools and recovery related gear. Smaller vehicles, limited space, specialize responsibilities. All vehicles must cary basic individual necessities with specialized gear distributed to other vehicles. OTAM will be limited to a total of 5 vehicles per trip.
Responsible for the safety and successful completion of the OTAM, the trip leader makes decisions as to the trip pace and more based on recommendations from the rest of the team.
Our navigation specialist for the trip has it all mapped out from beginning to end including alternates. A mapping/gps expert, any changes or roadblocks we run into will be successfully rerouted from the navigation position.
This certified and trained individual focuses on and packs for any medical “what if” that may occur during the trip including any individual preexisting conditions that other participants may have.
The foundation of any successful overland trip is great food and the adventure cook for the journey focuses on providing just that using easily prepared recipes for group consumption.
Even the most prepared and well maintained vehicles may run into issues or need to be recovered during a trip like OTAM and our Mechanic/Recovery expert is prepared with the knowledge and tools to handle anything that comes their way.
OTAM tells a story and the media rig is there to capture it. Pre trip interviews, action footage, commentary, and post trip editing are all part of the game here for someone who is passionate about video work.
