    FAQs

Is this a family friendly trip?

The short answer is yes, but there are some things to consider. This is a long duration overland style trip across the world including long flights or drives to and from the Alaska. Your kids should be old enough to understand, have experience with, and be comfortable with long days in the vehicle and camping. Every family is different but typically we find kids over the age of 6 do best with trips of this type.

What will the weather be like?

August in Alaska is pleasant but temps can vary depending on how far north we are. We can experience mid 60s during the day and low 40s and night the farther north we travel.

Will be break up the days of driving?

Yes, although there is a large distance to cover, each day we will take breaks and there will be opportunities to be on your feet and some chances to explore too.

Where will we shower and go to the bathroom along the way?

Our camping with be mostly dispersed, carry in, carry out style and supplies for this are available. We will include one night in the middle of the trip at a facility with real bathrooms and showers to freshen up.

    Is wildlife a concern?

We will certainly pass through areas with a diverse amount of wildlife and extra precautions will be taken at camp to ensure a safe time for all. This will be gone over with all participants but will include actions like sealing up all food and garbage and not leaving food and trash outside.

    When should I fly out?

We recommend arriving the night before the 8th and resting up before we all meet for the first day of travel. There is a lot to do in the city and with Anchorage being a major flight hub you, may find a cheaper flight if you arrive a day or two early.

    When should I drive out?

We will work with each participant to help develop their travel itinerary if arriving by vehicle - but don't underestimate how big Alaska is and the travel time to get to Anchorage. Allow yourself extra time at both US/Canada border crossings. If traveling from the extreme east USA or you would like to join a convoy, we will be taking the Trans Canada Highway from Quebec all the way west and you are welcome to travel with us.

With breathtaking scenery around each corner, every day of this journey will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you wanting more.
